This resource presents two views of California crime data: a recent, agency-level FBI dashboard and a longer historical record for trend analysis.
FBI Crime Statistics: 2026 Crime Data
This dashboard presents data reported monthly to the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program, which covers the vast majority of law enforcement agencies in the state. Data are available at both the statewide and individual agency level. The dashboard also incorporates crime data directly from three of California’s largest police agencies (Los Angeles Sheriff’s Office, Oakland Police Department, and San Francisco Police Department) which have not yet submitted 2026 data to the FBI, but provide it publicly elsewhere. Together, these sources currently cover law enforcement agencies serving roughly 90% of California’s population.
Due to the recency of this data, it is provisional and subject to revision as agencies continue to submit and correct their reports. Please see this document for guidance on how to use the dashboards and data documentation. The underlying FBI data used to make these visualizations is also available for download below.

The figures below present data from the California Department of Justice, reflecting statewide crime trends dating back to 1966. This section provides a longer and more thoroughly vetted historical record for analyzing crime trends over time, complementing the more current, agency-level detail in the FBI dashboard above.
