Alexandra PerkinsResearch Fellow, UC Berkeley

Alexandra Perkins is a Graduate Student Researcher at the California Policy Lab and a Master of Public Policy student at the Goldman School of Public Policy. She is interested in California’s social safety net, disaster risk, and household finance.
Alex’s fascination with the interactions between policy, the housing market, and the built environment is rooted in her experience growing up in an exurb of Denver during the financial crisis, where she spent many happy hours playing with friends in the abandoned foundation pit of a half-built condo. Before joining CPL, Alex was a Research Data Analyst at the Fisher Center for Real Estate and Urban Economics at Berkeley Haas, where she worked on projects examining the effects of wildfires on home prices, analyzing uptake of the California FAIR Plan, and connecting national mortgage financing data with loan performance data. Alexandra holds a BA from UC Berkeley in Anthropology.
Outside of work, Alex usually has her nose in a book, preferably on American history.
